Help WantedThe League of Women Voters is where hands-on work to safeguard democracy leads to civic improvement. Here's how to get involved .... Lobby Corps. PAC Study. New Citizens. Easy Voters Guide. Volunteer AdvocacyThe LWVME Lobby Corps is an all-volunteer effort. Even if you can only spare an hour or two a month you can be a valuable member of our team! Most of this work can be done from your home or office. Join the PAC Study CommitteeWe're working on a major study, Money in Politics: PACs in Maine. We're focusing on candidate PACs to understand how they're funded, how they influence candidate elections, and what changes, if any, should be proposed to limit the influence of private money on elected officials. Read more about it. New CitizensThe Portland Area League has an ongoing program to pass out voter registration cards at naturalization ceremonies for new citizens. This is a year-round project, and we need more volunteers. Read all about it here. If you are interested, please contact us at PortlandAreaLWV@att.net. It is among the most satisfying work any League member can ever do. Easy Voters GuideThe League of Women Voters of Maine joins with the Literacy Volunteers of Maine to produce an Easy Voters Guide for general elections. You can see what one looks like here.
