LWV-Portland Area: Climate Change Book Discussion

January is Climate Change Awareness Month. Join Portland Area’s upcoming book discussion to focus attention on a great, short book on Climate Change. Written by a political conservative who wants to keep it short (if not sweet) to sway the unconvinced. Read it, discuss, hand it off to Uncle Louis. Book: What We Know About Climate Change, updated 2018 edition, by Kerry Emanuel.

Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson, Winner of the Pulitzer Prize. In this book, Wilkerson writes that beyond race or class, a powerful caste system influences how we see and behave in American society. Linking the caste systems of America, India, and Nazi Germany, Wilkerson explores eight pillars that underlie caste systems across civilizations

The Emily Farley Fund, part of the Maine Community Foundation, honors the work and memory of the indomitable Emily Farley and financially supports programming of an educational nature.
