Registration is closed for this event

A How-to series for new and experienced activists.

Session 4: How did it get that way?

This 5-part webinar series provides information and training to help Mainers advocate in front of our state legislature. Attend all the sessions, or drop in on the ones that interest you. These sessions are open to activists on any issue. Experts from the League of Women Voters, Maine Citizens for Clean Elections, and other advocacy organizations will lead the discussions.

In this session, we'll cover:

  • How the history of Maine has shaped the legislature.
  • The changes to our idea of a “citizen’s legislature” and how it affects who can afford to serve.
  • Clean Elections and other unique aspects of Maine.
  • A panel discussing the history that got us to the system we have today.
